"Triton" Double Edged Kerambit

• Details: One of my particularly devastating kerambits, the Triton is not a knife for the timid! Commissioned by a client to his specifications, this custom knife has a lot of edges, style, and grace. The blade is double edged, inside and out, hollow ground and taper ground with a 3" contact wheel for an extremely thin, sharp edge while maintaining plenty of nearly quarter-inch thick spine. The serrations are extremely sharp, my vampire style alternating cuts. The steel is O-1 high carbon tungsten-vanadium tool steel, bead blasted for a flat finish and hot blued for corrosion resistance and black appearance. The 1" rear finger ring is has a pointed skull crusher (cat scratcher for the faint-hearted), and is smooth and rounded on the inside for comfort. The knife feels good in either tactical (reverse) or traditional grip style. I fully fileworked the tapered spine and tang with a clean, regimented pattern. The polished bolsters are carbon steel and will engrave well should the client ever want it. They are dovetailed to mount a book-matched, bedded pair of African Red River Jasper gemstone handle scales, extremely hard and tough gemstone that will outlast the knife blade and your favorite knifemaker, too! They are brightly and smoothly polished for a great feel.
• Sheath: A knife of this character needed a matching sheath, so I made a large panel inlay type with Ostrich leg skin inlays in hand carved leather. I used the smooth and slick part of the skin, with small scales and a nice buffed finish. The sheath is open at the handle, with a retaining strap arrangement that shows off the shocking red handle while locking the blade securely in the sheath. I used 9 -10 oz. leather shoulder, thick and stout, hand-carved, hand-stitched, dyed black, lacquered and sealed. The snap is nickel plated steel.
